Privacy Policy

Effective date: January 2026

Matter & Gas (“we”, “us”) takes privacy seriously — not as a checkbox, but as part of building systems responsibly.

This page explains what we collect, why we collect it, and how we treat it.

What we collect

We collect only what is necessary to operate the site and services. That may include:

Information you provide

  • Text you submit to the public diagnostic
  • Email address if you choose to receive results or contact us
  • Messages sent through contact forms

Technical information

  • IP address (used for security and rate-limiting)
  • Browser and device metadata
  • Timestamps and request metadata

We do not require account creation to use the public diagnostic.

What we do not collect

  • We do not intentionally collect sensitive personal data
  • We do not sell, rent, or trade user data
  • We do not use submitted content to train public or third-party models
  • We do not track users across unrelated websites

How we use information

Information is used only to:

  • Run the public feasibility diagnostic
  • Send requested emails (e.g., diagnostic results)
  • Respond to inbound messages
  • Monitor system health, abuse, and performance
  • Improve reliability and correctness of our systems

We do not use submissions for marketing automation or behavioral profiling.

AI system usage

Content submitted to the public diagnostic is processed by our backend systems and AI models solely to produce the requested output.

  • Outputs are generated deterministically
  • Inputs and outputs may be temporarily stored for auditing, security, or debugging
  • Retention is limited and time-bound

Do not submit confidential, proprietary, or client-specific information through the public diagnostic.

Data storage and security

We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect data, including:

  • Encrypted storage where appropriate
  • Strict access controls
  • Rate-limiting and abuse detection
  • Logging and monitoring for anomalous activity

No system is perfectly secure, but we design with failure modes in mind.

Third-party services

We use trusted infrastructure providers (such as cloud hosting and email delivery services) strictly to operate the site.

These providers process data only on our instructions and are subject to their own security and compliance standards.

Data retention

We retain data only as long as necessary for operational, security, or legal purposes, and then delete or anonymize it.

Your choices

You may:

  • Request deletion of personal information you’ve submitted
  • Ask what information we have about you
  • Contact us with privacy questions or concerns

Changes

If we materially change this policy, we'll update this page and revise the effective date.
